Enjoy a wide variety of cultural events throughout June, including a window and art exhibit, a historic Negro League baseball game & activities, an Essay/Scholarship & Art Competition, Friday Night Talent Competition, parade, and more!

The celebration will be a lively community gathering with jazz music, face painting, food trucks (From Scratch Food Truck and Get Loaded Food Truck), and more.

This year marks the 6th annual Juneteenth Commemorative Celebration at Michigan State University! This year’s theme, Beyond Freedom: Building Futures, Protecting Our Past and Activating Change, aims to celebrate and recognize the contributions of past and contemporary artists, scientists and advocates who work tirelessly to center Black excellence in the American fabric. The Juneteenth events at MSU will include components focused on voting, entrepreneurship, and storytelling. The event is open to all.

Enjoy blues, soul, jazz & gospel music, speakers & storytellers, a thought-provoking history walk, food trucks, concessions, ice cream, all with free shuttle service from the Lansing Mall!

The 517 Juneteenth Weekend is a unique opportunity for the Mid-Michigan region to celebrate Black culture, expression, and experiences. Attracting thousands of participants to Lansing’s REO Town Corridor, the 517 Juneteenth Weekend recognizes the emancipation of African-American slaves in the United States of America.

This special, free event will feature a variety of games and activities as well as live music sponsored by the Summer Solstice Jazz Festival. The East Lansing Public Library’s Library on the Go will also be at the event with activities for children, a historical story walk, and games in the park. Additionally, in partnership with the East Lansing Department of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, there will be a giveaway of copies of the graphic novel “March: Book One” by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell. All community members are invited to attend.

East Lansing Farmers Market (Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court)
Lansing’s 4th of July Celebration begins with the Independence Day Parade on Friday, with a start time of 11 a.m. at the Capitol Loop. Later in the evening will be the 4th of July Concert at Adado Riverfront Park starting at 7 p.m., with fireworks to follow! Generously sponsored by the Lansing Board of Water and Light and Meijer.

Come celebrate the country’s independence in Mason, Michigan! This annual community parade is filled with local businesses, civic groups, and organizations, and never fails to delight spectators of all ages!
